July 23 Visit to Senator Boozmans Office
With my colleagues, Kasey and Brenda, on July 23, 2018, paying a visit to Senator Boozman's office to talk about funding in the 2019 fiscal year regarding the Child Care and Development Block Grants and the Save Every Mother and Child Act. What a great team.

This is what it's all about--helping hard-working families and children. So seldom do we get to see the benefits of advocacy. But, there it is, right there in black and white. Over 2000 families will receive childcare vouchers in Arkansas! That's just fantastic! Congressman Steve Womack held a townhall at Arkansas Tech University on August 20, 2018. My colleagues from Save the Children and I attended to hold our congressman accountable. We inquired about funding for the Child Care and Development Block grant funding in the 2019 fiscal year. He said that funding would be at the same level as in 2018.

Arkansas SCAN volunteers with Senator Boozman working hard on behalf of children all over the world. Advocacy Week, March 2018, Washington, D.C.

March 18-20, 2018: What a pleasure it was to learn about advocating for early childhood education and maternal, newborn and child survival and then to actually meet with our congressmen and senators on behalf of children all around the world. The summit was truly remarkable. I am so grateful for this beautiful opportunity to serve along side the talented men and women at Save the Children Action Network and my fellow advocates from Arkansas. The advocacy efforts of many the volunteers and NGOs, like Save the Children and others, resulted in increased funding in the 2018 omnibus bill for early childhood education programs.
